Just ordered my glasses last week and I had to send them back as they had scratches on the left side of the frame. Not sure if it happened when the frames where manufactured or when Frames Direct put in the lenses. Anyways I did call customer service and they said I could send them back for an exchange which I have done. I had no problems getting the exchange to happen.
I am a little upset that I received a damage product but Frames Direct seems to want to fix the problem. My frames are out of stock now so I have to wait about 2 weeks before they get another shipment and they can install the lenses and send me back my eye glasses. Not that happy with the wait but hopefully everything will get fixed as the first pair of frames arrived pretty quickly.
Speed of shipping could improve as my order took 2 weeks for delivery. Not bad but if there is room for improvement it would be in this area.
Otherwise I had a really good experience. Frames Direct has great selection of frames and many brands. There was a lot of frames I like and it took me a while to figure out which one I should buy. I had to consult with my husband and family before my final choice.
If you have purchased glasses before that fit well, then buying online is not a problem as you just take the measurements from your old glasses and find frames in the right range for your new glasses. You can even search for frames by measurements. All newer frames have measurements listed on the inside of one of the arms. Frames Direct has a great Glasses Size Guide located at the bottom of the page if you want more information on this.
The price and selection is very good at Framedirect.com for both regular eyeglasses and sunglasses. The site is very professional and has lots of help in selecting the right type of frames. The only thing that worried me was not being about to physically try on the glasses first.
One suggestion I have is that Framesdirect could put some sort of system in place where they could ship you a couple of frames and let you try them on and then return? This way you could make sure the size fits your face and that they look good on you.
I got lucky that my new sunglasses look good and fit my face well, but it they hadn't I would have returned them and wasted a pair of prescription lenses.
I purchased my Oakley prescription sunglasses from Frames Direct. I picked the frame and color of lenses and am happy with the purchase. I had seen the frames before on other people (one of my friends have them) so I knew what I was buying and had tried them on before so I knew they fit well.
The main reason I choose Frames Direct was the prices. The cost of the Oakley's with the lens was the cheapest I could find. Other online retailers came close but Frames Direct seem to have the best reviews with the least number of negative ones.
Pros
Arrived quickly - Inexpensive - Good selection
Cons
Virtual try on app thingy didn't work on my tablet.
This is my second time around with using Frames Direct and I had the same great experience as before. Price was good, it was shipped within the week and I like what I got.
The only difficult thing to do with online eyeglasses stores is trying to pick out the frames. Frames Direct virtual try on assistant is okay and it does help a bit I just wish there was a better way, not that I can think of. Anyways its worth doing it online instead of at a store because of the price alone so I guess I shouldn't complain to much.
My next order with Frames Direct will be probably for my daughter. She is 10 and I know she has problems seeing the blackboard at school so I think she has glasses in her future as well.
BTW Paypal checkout was handy.
Pros
Prices and selection are good.
Cons
Harder to buy glasses online than in store since you cannot try them on.
