STDcheck.com is based out of Houston Texas and is owned by FPK Services LLC. STDcheck offers confidential and private STD testing services in the United States and Canada. They are partnered with over 4,000 lab testing centers nationwide which are CLIA-certified. These testing centers are the same ones used by doctors and hospitals. All tests offered by STDcheck are FDA-approved and you should see your results in 1 to 2 days.
STDcheck.com service tests for common sexually transmitted diseases. Their popular all in one 10-Test Panel includes test for:
- HIV 1 and 2
- Syphilis
- Gonorrhea (Gonorrhoea, The Clap)
- Chlamydia
- Hepatitis A, B, and C
- Herpes 1 and 2
You can also purchase one or more of these tests separately if you wish. An early detection test for HIV is also available called HIV RNA Testing that can be added onto the 10-Test Panel for an additional fee.
How It Works
Getting yourself tested for STDs / STIs is straight forward. All you have to do is the following steps:
- Visit STDcheck.com and determine if you want to order online the 10-Test Panel or one of the individual tests.
- Search for your preferred testing center using your postal code to find the closest one. There are over 4,000 test centers in the United States and 500 in Canada.
- Enter your information including your first and last name, gender, email, date of birth, and payment information.
- Once your order is placed you will receive an email containing a Lab Requisition Form which will include a test code and the address of the test center you choose.
- Visit the testing center and give them your test code. Retrieving your samples on average takes between 5 to 15 minutes. The lab technician will collect the required samples (blood and/or urine).
- Your test results are emailed to you, usually within 1 to 2 days. Your results will be attached to than email as a PDF file.
STD Tests
All testing services at STDcheck are approved and managed by qualified physicians. All STD tests are FDA approved and all testing centers are CLIA-certified. STDCheck.com has 11 different STD tests which covers the most common sexual transmitted diseases and infections. These include HIV, Hepatitis, Herpes, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, and Chlamdia. Most tests require a blood sample. The Chlamydia and Gonorrhea test require a urine sample. This means before you go to the test center, you should make sure you haven't urinated for at least one hour before arriving.
STDcheck also offers an early warning HIV test called HIV RNA. This test yields conclusive results 9 to 11 days after exposure to the HIV virus. This is much quicker than other HIV early detection tests that have waiting periods of 28 days. This RNA-based test detects the virus itself in your blood and is reportedly the most accurate results available on the market (according to STDcheck).
If unfortunately your STD test results come back positive (except for HSV-1) you will have access to a free doctor consultation over the phone. The doctor will either prescribe treatment or refer you to a specialist. If a prescription for medication to treat your STD is required then you will be charged a fee of $65 for the script.

Personalized Test Recommender
The STD Test Recommender is a series of multiple choice questions broken into 3 categories that are based on factors like your daily lifestyle, your personal attributes, and the national health guidelines. There are about 15 questions in total. Based on your answers the tool will let you know which tests it recommends you have. In most cases it seems to recommend the 10-Test Panel since as a general principle if you are at risk for one STD, there is a chance you are at risk for most others as well.
Confidential STD Test Notification
If you have tested positive for an STD you can use the STD Test Notification tool provided by STDcheck.com to notify your sexual partners that may be at risk of an infection. The tool is free and will send either an email or a text message to their smartphone. This tool protects your privacy and there is no way to find out who sent the message. The message sent by this tool is as follows:
A sexual partner has recommended you get tested for STDs. Please visit STDcheck.com/notify and get tested as soon as possible.
It would be nice if the message indicated what they might be at risk of having but I guess just being notified about the possibility of having an STD is better than not being notified at all.
Privacy
STDcheck.com is required to abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). These are the same laws that doctors follow and they preserve your right to decide who can access your health information. On the STDcheck website your data is encrypted and all transactions between you and STDcheck.com are secure. The lab testing centers are private with no waiting area. All you need to do is take your unique identification code you receive from STDcheck and give it to the lab. They don't need your name and you don't need to fill out any other paperwork. The labs are designed so you walk in and give your blood and/or urine samples and walk out in under 15 minutes. Even the lab technicians don't know what the samples they are taking, are for.
Insurance
STDcheck.com does not accept health insurance for privacy reasons. When health insurance is used to pay for STD / STI testing, your insurance company is automatically notified and it goes on your medical record.
Costs
The most popular test at STD Check is the 10-Test Panel. This costs $219. If you would like to include HIV Early Detection with the 10-Test Panel the price becomes $349 (else the individual price for it is $175). The individual tests run from $24 each for Hepatitis (A, B, or C), to $89 for Chlamydia or Gonorrhea. In Canada you can expect to pay about 35% more for any of the tests.
Charges on credit cards for your STD testing will appear as FPK Services on your statement. You can cancel your order any time before your visit to the test center. Refunds will be issued within 24 to 48 hours of cancellation minus a 20% cancellation fee.
