I am a young professional who lives by themselves in a large city and am really busy with work. I am usually at work almost 12 hour every day during the week and have no real time for myself besides working out . Blue Apron is ideal for me as I don't have to think about grocery shopping nor plan what to have for dinner.
I like how it gets delivered weekly to my building and I don't have to be home. My door man holds onto the box for me until I return.
I am currently getting the two person plan as each meal feeds me 2-3 times. I take the leftovers for lunch. It feeds me for 6 to 7 days. All I need to buy now is breakfast and snacks. Plus I have lost 8 lbs only after a few months.
The meals is also exceptional. The recipes are really tasty and the quality of the food in the packages is high.
Blue Apron is definitely worth a try if you are thinking about it.
We have been using Blue Apron for over 7 months now. The meals usually taste good and are non-traditional. Our family has tried spices and recipes we have never heard of and otherwise never would have tried and it has made us look forward to upcoming meals.
The pros for Blue Apron is the novelty and convenience it offers. The cons are the amount of waste from the packaging. This includes ice packs, a large box, and the foil insulation box liner. We also end up adding meat for our son since the smaller portion size doesn't work for him. He is well over 6 feet and 215 pounds. On the other hand our daughter likes the sizes of the portion.
Pros
Good tasting meals. Gets us to try meals we would not normally make.
Blue Apron has been really good. We haven't had any missing ingredients. I have a subscription for 3 meals for 2 people a week and the portions are usually just right. If it doesn't work for you, you can always add extra chicken or potato like we had to when we had someone over for dinner.
Blue Apron always has delivered us high quality ingredients with a clear and detailed step by step color recipe page. Most of the recipes I have never made before so it is a treat to true something new, especially if you enjoy cooking like I do but never have the time to research recipes and make sure you have all the ingredients on hand. Most of the meals do have green vegetables so for families with kids (ours are all grown up) you may want to make sure they are not picky eaters.
