Had the HIV testing done just to make sure of my status so I could sleep at night as I was worried about since someone close to me was diagnosed. We were not intimate but the realization that she got it made me think I should get checked out.
Ordering online through stdcheck.com was a simple process along with selecting the lab I wanted to go to as I had been to that one before for other blood tests. They just give you a number so the lab techs don't know what they are testing for so it is very private. I was notified via email and given my results in 2 days so it is pretty quick.
I decided to use Stdcheck as I was having some symptoms and wanted to rule out STDs. I also did not want to see anything put on my medical record.
I stepped up and went for the extra testing. It's easy to order the test but the lab I had picked out to use was fairly busy. I had to wait about 45 minutes. If I had know that before hand I would have picked out a different lab as there are several in my area.
I waited 4 days for my results as the lab was extra busy which was a bit of a nail biter especial since the stdcheck website said it takes about 2 days to get your results. In the end my results where negative which is good.
Overall I would recommend stdcheck. It's too bad they can't figure out how to rank the labs by how busy they are but I guess that is not possible since they are independent labs run by another company.
These tests are not cheap and for the 10 panel it will cost you over $200. You might as well do the full rack of tests instead of just 1 or 2 as it pretty much comes to the same price. There is not many companies online that you can order your own STD tests from so there is not much competition. If you are worried that you may have something then the $200 may be well spent to calm your fears like it was for me.
I got my results back, which was negative BTW, in 2 days which is what stdcheck say it would take. So no real complaints about the speed of the results except for medical tests like this, the faster the results, the happier the patient. It's to bad they can't just run the tests at the lab as soon as you give your samples.
